STAR SHAH
An educator during the day, Star Shah, who made his debut in Coke Studio, was born Amir Shah in Okara, Punjab. His music is deeply influenced by life’s challenges and family intricacies, portraying tales of enduring hatred and budding Hope. His fifteen-year journey, marked by hardships, remains a commitment to impact lives authentically. The song “2AM” reflects this, with Star Shah’s heartfelt lyrics resonating in the late-night atmosphere, evoking images of a wanderer navigating the quiet, rain-soaked, moonlit streets of an old city at night. The song’s title, “2AM,” signifies that crucial Time of night – a moment to let down defences, drop pretences, and embrace vulnerability.
ZEESHAN ALI
Answering Star’s poetic sorrow is Coke Studio newcomer Zeeshan Ali, a classically trained composer and vocalist exuding a sense of seasoned calmness. He shares insights shaped by life and introspection, emphasizing that Love demands Time, and Time thrives on Hope. Zeeshan Ali, a third-generation migrant from India, draws his musical inspiration from his spiritual upbringing and the echoes of his Sikh great-grandfather from Punjab. His passion for music, sparked by childhood exposure to divine verses, guided him into the mesmerizing world of ragas, showcasing his meticulous mastery of Farsi, Punjabi, and Sindhi. Coke Studio producer Xulfi introduced Zeeshan to Star’s lyrics for a response. Although initially strangers, Zeeshan’s response was already penned, inspired by Sarfaraz Ali’s poetry. How can one explain an answer written before its question? It’s better felt than described, especially at 2AM, where profundity resonates the strongest.
2AM TEAM
The ambient music is arranged and produced by Aksel Carlson & Thomas and Xulfi.
Star’s rap, characterized by Punjabi and English, reveals vulnerability. It addresses falseness and the pain that both purifies and punishes, leaving him shattered into tiny, irretrievable fragments.
Director Awais Gohar’s narrative, framed within a frame, comes to life with Art Director Hashim Ali, depicting cultural expressions of affection like a husband braiding his wife’s hair or a mother ironing her children’s uniforms. At the same Time, a bookseller contemplates releasing his possessions.
CONCLUSION
Coke Studio Season 15 features diverse music, collaborations, and soul-stirring melodies from artists like Star Shah, Zeeshan Ali, and the 2AM Team. Director Awais Gohar and Art Director Hashim Ali capture cultural expressions of affection through music.
