An educator during the day, Star Shah, who made his debut in Coke Studio, was born Amir Shah in Okara, Punjab. Answering Star’s poetic sorrow is Coke Studio newcomer Zeeshan Ali, a classically trained composer and vocalist exuding a sense of seasoned calmness. Zeeshan Ali, a third-generation migrant from India, draws his musical inspiration from his spiritual upbringing and the echoes of his Sikh great-grandfather from Punjab. His passion for music, sparked by childhood exposure to divine verses, guided him into the mesmerizing world of ragas, showcasing his meticulous mastery of Farsi, Punjabi, and Sindhi. Coke Studio producer Xulfi introduced Zeeshan to Star’s lyrics for a response. Although initially strangers, Zeeshan’s response was already penned, inspired by Sarfaraz Ali’s poetry. How can one explain an answer written before its question? It’s better felt than described, especially at 2AM, where profundity resonates the strongest.
